My children ages 36 and 38 respectively refuse to grow up and still think sleeping on sleeping bags on a living room floor in friends houses is neat. They came around to visit as long as I was feeding them, doing their laundry and giving them spending money but refused to live with me because it meant getting a job. I finally cut the proverbial apron strings and said no more money. If you’re hungry, I’ll feed you, if you’re sick, I’ll get you medicine, if your clothes are dirty you can wash them here, if you need showered, you can take it here but I will NOT give you any more “spending” money. I haven’t seen them in 10 years.

My daughter met a random guy in a bar & within 3 weeks, had a huge tattoo with his name done on her leg, was married & never said a word, all while she lived with us. We found out after seeing it on FB & wouldn’t have known his name if we hadn’t seen the tattoo. I lost it, threw her out & didn’t speak to her for several months. They were divorced after a year or so. I have apologized by email for handling it badly but she has somehow twisted things in her head and laid blame entirely on me. It is going on 6 years. We have seen one another a couple of times but it is cold. Now, at 36, she hangs out with an ex- friend of mine & calls her “Mom”. The childless, sex addict, sociopaths x-BF refers to her as ” daughter”. It is extremely difficult — I literally have no idea how to deal with it.

Growing up she was a great baby sitter, until at some point my parents started using someone else when I started school and didn’t need one as much. This is when she was around 15. By the time she was 18, she was a complete heroin addict and her parents spent well over $50,000 getting her rehab but she always relapsed. They said enough is enough, told her to figure it out herself and they had done all they could. She died about 3 years later up in Northern AZ in a tent with her boyfriend, I can’t remember if she died from exposure or OD or both but either way pretty messed up.

12 year old cousin wife’s side. She left her parents & jumped around couple family members. Stupid us believed her lies & decide become her legal guardians. Never had a kid, loved her like a daughter. Then…. skipping school, bad grades, drugs & alcohol. She makes death threats against fellow student & is kicked out of school. Stupid me drives her all over to meet friends, scumbags I find out later. Then one day claims we abused her & leaves. Over years she occasionally tries to contact us. F*** her, don’t even want to hear her name.
