21 Common Mistakes Socially Awkward People Make

5.

You don’t have to talk. It’s okay for there to be silence. The most awkward thing is when people make nervous chatter. You can tell they are not listing and not saying anything connected to the conversation. Most awkward people are just waiting to tell a story that was well received before that often seems random and causes confusion. It would be just as effective to constantly say, “I am saying words. These are the words I am saying.” Let the situation breathe.

6.

Be as confident as possible when recovering from a small f*ck up, like dropping something.

7.

Focusing on how they are coming across instead of focusing on making others feel comfortable/understood.

8.

Talking too much and not listening enough. Working on your listening skills is beneficial to everyone involved.
