When I have a bad day, it usually involves a spilled milkshake and my boss telling me I have to work over the weekend. For cops, their bad days include dealing with some of the most repugnant, evil, and disgusting criminals that you could ever imagine — literal scum of the earth.
These criminals take evil to an unparalleled level. Child rapists, meat cleaver murderers, and psychopathic abusers — there is no humanity left in these cold blooded monsters. And for cops, they are the ones that have to come on the scene and help deescalate, save, and help the victims.
Sometimes it’s too late, though, and the damage is irrevocably done. For some, the emotional loss and PTSD that comes with these chilling arrests is just the tip of the iceberg. The only thing police officers can hope for now is that the criminal gets locked away for life.
