We Regret To Inform You That The Summer’s Latest Insta-Pic Trend Is ‘Barbie Feet’

Gone are the days of smashing unrealistic beauty standards by posting the graphic that shows if Barbie was a real woman, she’d have to walk on all fours. Barbie is cool now, and so are her plastic legs and permanently high-heel shaped feet just in time for summer Instagram pics.

Please, take a moment to temporarily forget May’s obsession with hips and high-cut swim bottoms to fixate on “Barbie feet,” the latest go-to pose by all your favorite celebs who look good wearing anything, but especially while sporting flexed calves and ankle-less, sloped feet.

It appears that fashion blog Who What Wear was one of the first to cover the “Instagram epidemic.” However, I cannot figure out why Barbie feet are just now earning the name “Barbie feet”—some of these posts are from as far back as last spring. But these ladies sure look hot doin’ it! Or maybe they’re conventionally attractive women who would be just as gorgeous doing a flat-footed tromp through the sand, who’s to say.

Fear not, though, real women who are definitely not plastic but who also want to achieve that “I paid for these legs” look. Simply bare your feet (and legs until mid-torso, if possible), rotate your ankle so that you’ve got yourself a reverse cankle (where does the top of your foot end and your shin begin??!), and commit your toes to the follow through, all the while maintaining a relaxed toe pose so to not look like you’re waving at someone with your piggies. Remember, you want to look like you have Barbie’s feet, as if you too walk around on the balls of your feet like a plastic doll.

Like Barbie, this photo pose is timeless. Just check out Chrissy Teigen and her Barbie feet, years ago.

Apparently, First Lady Melania Trump also had a case of the Barbs last year, which is “why” she wore stilettos while getting on a plane to visit Texas during Hurricane Harvey. And everyone gave her shit for it! Because they can’t appreciate well-crafted Barbie feet.

Or perhaps all these women just have ridiculously high arches and aren’t just pointing their toes and flexing their calves? It definitely sounds like a thing.

Anyway, please have fun with this gross foot trend. In the meantime, I will continue to try perfecting the art of just having hips.
