Busy Philipps’ Expert Clap Back At A Body-Shaming Troll Deserves All The Awards

Busy Philipps—actor, writer, mother, and Instagram fitspiration—posted in a sports bra and leggings for a mirror selfie Tuesday morning. Her caption read, “Today is #TheAwesomeChallenge and my workout every morning makes me feel awesome (even on the days when I’d rather stay in bed, like today)” adding that for every Instagram post using #TheAwesomeChallenge hashtag, children’s clothing company @RocketsofAwesome would donate back-to-school clothing to a @Baby2Baby child in need. Let’s do this!”

Apparently, Busy’s message was lost on some who stumbled across her post. Particularly a man whose Instagram handle was @esssenemm, and who displayed his poor manners and poor grammar with this hateful comment: “Ughhhhh, you’re rolls are showing ??.”

(The account was not private at the time of writing and was inundated with comments from outraged Busy fans. He also seems to be strangely preoccupied with Mandy Moore?)

Though it was sweet of so many to come to Busy’s defense, she needed no help. She clapped back, and hard, writing:

“I feel like a man of your age should know the difference between your and you’re,” she wrote. “Your is possessive, as in, ‘Your rolls are showing.’ (Get it? The rolls belong to me.)” she wrote. “You’re is an abbreviation for you are, as in, ‘You’re clearly an asshole body-shaming loser.'”

Many commented on Busy’s Instagram post, praising her shutdown of the troll. Others pointed out that the man’s comment may have been made in jest and/or misconstrued as a compliment.

“I’m following you JUST cause of this comment. Hats off to you girl PS. Not only do you look awesome, but you look healthy. We need more role models like you,” wrote one encouraging user.

Whatever the case, let this be a lesson learned: If your comments can in any way be construed as body-shaming, just go ahead and keep them to yourself.
