People Share Why They Quit a Job on The Spot

Got sexually harassed by my boss. He thought his millionaire status gave him power over every woman in the world. His words still ring in my head today when he said “No one is going to hear you scream within these four walls.” I pushed him and ran out as fast as I could. I’ve never been so scared in my life.

Got asked to work on my day off (limo driver). Picked up my first ride at 8am, and was dropping off my last person at LAX at 8pm when the idiot scheduling that day said they had no one else to take a run to San Diego. Told the boss that I wasn’t going to do that, and he said if I wouldn’t, I didn’t need to work there anymore, so I drove to his house and gave him the keys so he could do it.

Working for a labour company in Australia. They gave me a job of dressing as their mascots and passing out flyers at a college campus. When I took the job I thought this would be a job fair at the campus. Nope, just them parked outside the campus door and advertising their labour business. The costume was hot and they yelled at me anytime I took my head off. It was humiliating dressing as a cartoon pirate. Also, I felt like I was scamming these kids because I knew how terrible this company was. Less than an hour in I took the costume off, put it down, told them I quit, and walked away.

I don’t have family, I only had my dog for 13 years. She was dying a slow death due to heart disease and needed around the clock care. My manager, Greg, denied my time off request, rejected my vacation time use request (I had 3 weeks saved), and demanded I put the company first and put the dog down. I believe my parting words were “HBO can go f*ck itself.”
