Take away the money and fame and expensive clothes and makeup and more money and talent and more fame and you’re left with celebrities — they’re just like us! Famous Celebrities, especially women, are held to disgusting and impossible standards of beauty when it comes to their outward appearance so it’s nice to see some ladies from Hollywood ditch the makeup for a moment and show us that they’re real people just like us.
Okay, so they’re all still breathtakingly beautiful and way better looking than any of us could ever be, but these photos show them without the facade of movie lights and makeup and Photoshop. In a world that’s seemingly moving in a direction where so many people want to look the same (à la your favorite Kardashian/Jenner), it’s nice to see a natural reflection of famous women feeling comfortable in their own skin. Also, shouts out to all my people who love makeup and rock the sh*t out of a full face of highlighting slay everyday! I see you too!
So whether you’re a fan of makeup or not, sometimes stripping down and letting your face go bare can feel liberating AF. Of course, do whatever makes you feel most comfortable, but in a broken and sexist Hollywood system that perpetuates the need for women to adhere to a certain look or figure or makeup routine, seeing some of our favorite stars with a fresh face is wonderfully refreshing.

1. Liv Tyler
Our favorite animal cracker bae proves that she’s still as stunning now as she was in her breakout roles in the 90s. Daughter of acclaimed rockstar Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Liv has made a name for herself starring in such movies as Stealing Beauty, Armageddon, and hit HBO show — The Leftovers. Although, as you can tell from the picture, one of her all-time favorite roles is that of mom to her three children.
2. Emilia Clarke
Sometimes I forget what Emilia Clarke actually looks like without the long, fake white wig and epic fur coats, but it’s safe to say that she definitely doesn’t need the extra hair and makeup. The English actress may be known for her starring role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but she’s also an outspoken feminist and all around badass. Esquire named her Sexiest Woman Alive in 2015, and her natural beauty is only expounded upon by her talent and gender equality ideals.
3. Lady Gaga
If there’s anyone who can look effortlessly chic and beautiful holding a huge piece of cake, it’s Lady Gaga — or, as her friends and family know her, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Lady Gaga popped onto the scene with her acclaimed dance-pop album The Fame in 2007. People rocked out to such hits as “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” with the fervor of a thousand jumping baby goats and it surely solidified her stardom. Now, after selling 127 million albums worldwide, Gaga is one of the best selling musical artists of her time. And when she’s not slaying the music game, she can be found working for LGBT rights with her nonprofit foundation, Born This Way.
4. Reese Witherspoon
Shouts out to Reese looking like an actual human angel with my favorite animal. Witherspoon, 41, proves that your 40s are the new 20s. Well, at least for a rich and famous Hollywood starlet like her. Reese is most notably known for her breakout role in Legally Blonde, her more dramatic roles in Walk the Line (for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress) and her most recent role in the hit HBO miniseries, Big Little Lies. She’s fierce, a spitfire, a feminist, and truly lovable by all.
