A Walmart cashier is getting recognition all over social media after her little act of kindness was discovered by people online. Ebony Harris used her lunch break to help out a regular customer of hers, Angela Peters, who happens to have cerebral palsy.
While shopping at Walmart, Peters spoke with Harris as she usually does. Peters told the cashier that she had gone to the nail salon, but was refused service because “her hands move too much.” The shaking of her hands is part of her condition and cannot be helped. Harris decided she would make sure Peters got her manicure–and she used her lunch break to do so.
“I knew her from her coming in here shopping. I’ve helped her shop a couple of times. I just wanted to do her nails and I didn’t want her day to be ruined.”
Peters was clearly happy to have her nails done. The two picked out a sparkly blue color and talked the entire time they were having their beauty session. Peters left feeling overwhelmed with joy.
Harris said that Peters’ hands did shake a bit, but not much. Peters said she didn’t want people to boycott the nail salon or make a big fuss, and instead, wanted to raise awareness about people with disabilities.
“I forgive the nail people for not doing my nails. When people do us wrong we must forgive, if not we harbor bitterness. I don’t want anyone fired, I just [want to] educate people that people with different challenges like being in a wheelchair, we can have our own business and get our nails done like anyone else.”
A woman who works in the Subway store where the two girls were sitting saw the moment and took a picture, posting it on Facebook. The photo then went viral online as people were touched and moved by the story and Harris’ kindness.

#EbonyHarris is a very good person.#Disabled people should not have endure the indignity of being denied access nor have to hope for random kindness from strangers to live the same quality of life as everyone else.
