A Detail From the ‘GoT’ Wrap Party Is Supposedly A Clue About Jon Snow’s Fate

As filming for Season 8 of Game of Thrones is coming to an end, fans are anxiously awaiting what the show has in store for its final season.
With Season 7 leaving all of us with so many questions, we still have to wait until April 2019 to find out the fate of our favorite characters. This weekend, however, the cast and crew got together to celebrate their final season by throwing a pretty epic wrap party for Season 8. While we still don’t know what is going to happen in Westeros, we do have a few clues from the party that lead us to believe there are some big things happening to Kit Harington–aka John Snow.

Besides the fact that Harington and Rose Leslie tied the knot this month, it seems as though Jon Snow is going to be filming way up until the bitter end of GoT. Fan websites for the show and some fan Twitter accounts captured and shared precious moments from the party, giving fans who weren’t in attendance an inside-look at what truly went down. According to the sites and accounts, Snow Patrol performed, there was an epic DJ rendition of the theme song and the show’s creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss gave an epic speech to thank everyone.

But, the biggest “clue” of all from the wrap party on June 30th was that Kit Harington still has that full head of hair and beard he has been waiting to chop off.

Previously during interviews about his plans after GoT, Harington has said openly that he wants to cut all of his hair off to become less recognizable as the character Jon Snow. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he said:

“I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone.”

He also said:

“The beard will be harder to get rid of — I quite like the beard. I like having the long hair and beard both, but it will be like ritualistic thing. I can’t go into my next role looking the same. This role was brilliant, but I’ll need to get rid of Jon Snow.”

Clearly, he has a pretty good point when it comes to his career. It’s hard to move on from the character that essentially defined who you are in the industry when you look exactly like him when auditioning for new roles. Cutting his hair is going to be important in terms of next steps. And, for the rest of the cast, it’s pretty much the same thing. Emilia Clarke can’t walk into an audition with long, white, flowing hair and not be remembered as the Mother of Dragons. And, our beloved Sophie Turner can’t mosey on into an audition with her long, braided, reddish hair–which is probably why Turner has completely switched up her look.

Clearly, Turner’s decision to chop her long locks off and go back to her natural blonde shade indicates that she’s essentially finished filming Sansa Stark’s final scenes. As for Kit Harington and Jon Snow–not so much. Essentially, the showrunners could have him keeping that long hair around in case they need to film some edits. Or, they could have him filming up to the very, very end of the series. There is, of course, the idea that Harington can’t cut his hair until they finish filming entirely, in an effort to throw fans off completely.

Either way, it does seem as though Harington is going to be around for all of Season 8–which, is good news for fans of the Bastard of Winterfell. Plus, we all know he looks way better with that long hair anyway (I’m sure Rose Leslie agrees!)
