Chris Evans’ Cryptic Tweet About ‘Avengers 4’ Has The Entire Internet In Crisis Mode

Chris Evans, everyone’s favorite superhero and actor, has been known to shake things up on Twitter. Just this week, Evans roasted rapper Kanye West to a crisp after his offensive tweet calling for America to “abolish the 13th amendment.”
While his Twitter account usually has fans drooling, clapping, or favoriting everything–this time around, Evans has created an all-out Internet meltdown after he tweeted a rather sad and cryptic statement about Avengers 4.

After the way Avengers: Infinity War ended, fans had theories that Captain America wasn’t going to make it through the next few movies. In an effort to stop Thanos, many thought he’d end up risking his own life.

The actor who plays Captain America in the series tweeted on Thursday that he “officially wrapped” Avengers 4, and it was an “emotional day.” Additionally, he tweeted that playing the role of Captain America has been “an honor.”

Many people on Twitter took this telling tweet as a “goodbye” to the character forever. And, they were truly not okay with it.

While many fans are unhappy to see Evans exit the Marvel world, it’s not really a surprise. In fact, in an interview this year, Evans confirmed that after Avengers 4, he would be leaving Marvel for good. According to his profile in The New York Times:

Last year, he filmed back-to-back the final two Marvel movies for which he is under contract — Avengers: Infinity War, due in April, and a sequel planned for next year. For now, he has no plans to return to the franchise (“You want to get off the train before they push you off,” he said), and expects that planned reshoots in the fall will mark the end of his tenure in the familiar red, white and blue super suit.

So, while it is heartbreaking to see Evans go, we know he will be moving onto bigger and better things (although I’m not quite sure what is better than saving the world).
