If you're anything like me, you drink almond milk on the regular because you're lactose intolerant and don't want to be doubled over in pain on the toilet every second of every day. Fortunately, there are enough brands on the market to find something to replace milk in our cereal, coffee, and to dip our cookies.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest brands of almond milk is being recalled for possibly containing actual dairy milk–which, can be horrible news for people like me, who have a serious milk allergy.
On Thursday, HP Hood LC–the parent company for Almond Breeze–issued a recall on over 145,000 cartons of Vanilla Almond Breeze because they “may contain dairy.”
The company issued a statement saying:
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
According to the statement, the recall is being issued to shipments in: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Customers who have purchased a container of Almond Breeze milk and want to return it are eligible for a refund if they bring it back to the store they originally purchased it. Or, they can fill out a request on Blue Diamond's website.
People on Twitter are both confused and upset to hear about the recall, wondering how a mix up like this could happen.
Still thinking about that Almond Breeze milk recall…and why cow’s milk was even in the vicinity to risk contaminating the batch..

How do you have an almond milk recall because of potential real milk in it? Shouldn’t be in same factory. Did somebody think it was funny to put real milk in and think I’m gonna make millions ? themselves.
