Keep it simple! Just start with small talk. If she’s interested it will lead to conversation. You don’t need to lead with some kind of gimmick or spectacle. Small talk will lead to big talk.

Join a club or activity you enjoy. It gives you a common ground to talk to the women who also do that activity.

Asking for directions can be a good way to start. Or a lighter if you smoke. Common interests can help (IE if she’s got a book you like, or shopping for stuff that you’re into), if you’re going to a movie you can ask what they’re going to see. If you’re new somewhere asking for stuff to do or help with the language (if the dominant language there isn’t your first) can work.
