19 Tips For Self-Defense Everyone Should Know

A good advice I’d gotten from a cousin was to get back so your back is against a wall, so you only have to watch out in front of you. What f*cks a lot of people up is having someone come up behind you and smacking you with some object, busting your skull open.

Honestly, practice. My husband spars with me randomly even when I don’t feel like doing it (the best time honestly) and each time he has me practice a defensive move something like a hundred or more times. About a month ago a man at the train station tried to attack me and because I had practiced so many times, I didn’t skip a beat and I intercepted his center of gravity and threw him off balance. I’m not stronger (super petite lady) but I was faster.

Back down from fights, as far as possible. Do your best to walk away. Just ignore the insults or the accusations or whatever is being said. The words don’t matter, especially if they’re from some random drunk cunt who you don’t know and will never see again. Getting into a physical fight purely for your bruised ego or to save face is more risk than it’s worth. You could be crippled or killed. You may cripple or kill someone. One of your friends may get crippled or killed because they tried to intervene. Just walk away, unless there’s something physically preventing you or the other person is already physically attacking you.
