23 Insensitive Racist Moments People Witnessed

An elderly white lady was being helped to her car, and was making a huge fuss about it. I stepped into help, and she thanked me profusely, saying I was better than ‘all those darkies.’ The ‘darkies’ in question were all Native American

My grandfather is racist, and can recall many a time him yelling at the TV watching ‘those Negroes run.’

My husband (asian) and I (white) were stared at by staff and customers at a restaurant. It was really unexpected since we were probably only five minutes out of a major city. We came in and suddenly everyone went quiet and just watched us eat. Everyone else in the restaurant happened to be really old white couples or just white lower-class families, we held hands at the table and we just felt incredibly uncomfortable. Service was pretty slow for us unlike the other customers. I was honestly afraid we were going to get hurt or someone was going to put something in our food.

I work near the beach in the summer at a parking lot. One day I’m talking to a polite (if a bit redneck) white guy when an Indian man walks up and asks for directions. I tell him where he needs to go and the white guy even helps me. After the Indian guy leaves, the white guy turns to me and just says “I betchu had it up here by now with them Sand-n*ggers”. Caught me completely off guard. I guess he must’ve thought all white people were racist like him.
