I love to travel; it’s one of my favorite things to do. When I was dating a guy several years ago it was during a period in my life when I was able to travel extensively due to some good fortune. I think I went on 4 or 5 trips overseas (without him; he couldn’t ever afford to go). Once, when I was preparing to go to London with a friend, his dad pulled me aside and said, “You need to get all this traveling out of your system before you get married. Wives are supposed to stay at home, and it’s not healthy for you to see too much of the world. It might give you ideas.” I was completely taken aback. I wasn’t even able to muster a response before he patted me on the shoulder and walked away.
