10. Don’t get sneaky with speakerphone.

There’s a time and a place to broadcast your phone call to the entire room – say, when one person is missing from a team meeting and you have to dial them in.

But under any other circumstances, putting someone on speakerphone without their knowledge is shady. Who knows, maybe they called about something personal – like a break up, or a big secret.

Or maybe it’s a former flame calling to tell you to get tested, or that – surprise! – you two are expecting. You know, in case respecting other people’s boundaries isn’t enough incentive for ya.

11. Prioritize face-to-face interactions over digital ones.

We all hate that person who can’t hold a conversation because their phone is blowing up and they just have to answer every ‘sup’ text right away.

It all comes down to respect. No matter the context, if you’re talking to someone face to face, your phone is gonna be an unwelcome third wheel. Don’t make your friends feel like you care more about checking your email than you do about them.

12. Don’t hog the wi-fi.

If everyone starts complaining that they can’t send emails the moment you start streaming the game, live, in HD, you are the problem.
