10 Things You Should Never, Ever Put Inside Your Vagina

5. Detoxing Pearls.

Like douching, detoxing pearls promote the idea that they will completely detox your vagina and make it fresh and clean. However, as noted before, vaginas don’t need to be detoxed and cleaned.

Dr. Vanessa Mackay, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) told Daily Star Online:

“The vagina is designed to clean itself with natural secretions and should not require a ‘detox. It contains good bacteria, which are there to protect it.

If these bacteria are disturbed it can lead to infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation. Perfumed products, soaps, gels, antiseptics, and vaginal douches can all affect the pH levels and the healthy balance of bacteria in the vagina, and cause irritation.

4. Tea Tree Oil.

Some people like to use oil based lubes during sexual intercourse for extra lubrication. However, there are some oils and lubes that you should stay far away from. For example, tea tree oil should never go anywhere near your vagina. Dr. Raquel Dardik suggests using natural oils such as coconut oil and olive oil but warns that tea tree oil can cause chemical burns inside of your vagina.

3. Whipped Cream.

Sure, movies make using whipped cream in the bedroom tons of fun. But, in all reality, introducing sugar into your vagina can lead to a lot of problems. If you’re going to use whipped cream in the bedroom–keep it away from your lady parts.

Sugar entering your vagina can lead to an imbalance in your pH levels, and further cause a yeast infection.

2. Rhinestones.

Years ago, people got into the whole “vajazzling” trend where they were literally pimping-out their vaginas with rhinestones. If you decide to go down this path, be really careful about where you put your gems. Doctors say if the glue gets too close to your vagina, you can get a series burn or infection. Additionally, you don’t want to lose a stone up inside of you, it can cause an infection.

1. Rubber Sex Toys.

While sex toys are made to put inside of your vagina, some of them are pretty bad for you. In the beginning, rubber sex toys won’t hurt you–but, over time, they become a house for microbes and bacteria if they aren’t completely cleaned properly. Rubber tends to tear faster than other materials, and the holes and nooks created house microbes and other bacteria that can infect you down the road. Stear clear of these and stick to the silicone, good-quality plastic, or stainless steel.
