You don’t have to be a gym rat to get in shape. Going to the gym every day is not only unrealistic, but detrimental to your health. Taking a day or two off between tough sweat sessions allows your muscles to fully recover and keeps you from getting burned out. Stay active on off days by walking more – and no, ^ THAT ^ doesn’t count.

 

14. Stressing Out

That whole ‘ignorance is bliss’ thing only goes so far. Acute stress promotes the release of cortisol, which makes you more efficient, more alert, and more motivated, thereby boosting your happiness in the long run. Just watch out for chronic stress – that kind is no bueno.

 

15. Slacking Off (A Little)

Nobody wants to be “that person”. You know, the one who’s always laughing at cat memes, distracting you while you’re busy, and mysteriously disappearing when there’s real work to be done. Call it jealousy, because “that person” may be a secret genius. Taking strategic breaks throughout your day can actually increase your productivity, not to mention lower your stress (the bad kind). There’s nothing more stifling to creativity than staring at a computer screen for 8 straight hours, banging your head against the wall when you don’t have an answer. So if you feel yourself slowing down, it may be time to “treat yo self” to a little break.
