Christopher Columbus never actually set foot in North America (he wandered around the Caribbean and hit the Mexican coast a couple of times, but he never went further north than Cuba). This one comes around every Columbus day and I’m still continually surprised people don’t know it.

That the U.S. dropped nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. The American education system never ceases to disappoint me. I’ve had 3 people in the last year not know this.

Do not drink from standing water. If you must drink untreated water, do so from a moving source such as a stream.
