I don’t know about Hoarders from A&E but we never really condemned a home unless we had to. That happened maybe a handful of times. It’s only REALLY bad when the foundation is affected (RE: the twins with the tub full of shit).

We had one guy who blamed the death of his grand parents for his hoarding but you could tell he was just lazy and gross. He had SOME kind of problem but as the hoard was being taken away he was perfectly fine.

I worked on Hoarding for a couple years and can say for a fact there might have been 2, 3 tops that were just lazy people. And poop was never involved with them. Once you see poop you know there is real crazy involved.

One hoarder owned a junk yard and had (I wanna say) miles of hoard surrounding his house. It would have been awesome to shoot with a drone.
