Grew up with my mom always pushing skin lightening soaps and ointments on me since all the actresses in the Philippines are light-skinned and that’s what’s considered beautiful. It only took me 20+ f*cking years to be comfortable in my own skin since she always made me feel ugly.

My mom didn’t let me go to any frend’s sleepovers until I was a Junior in high school. And it was across the street. AND I had to be back at the house at 7AM when she was leaving for work.

During my brother’s Sophomore year of high school, his first girlfriend is a black girl… Well, that didn’t go well with my strict Asian parents and we had to have countless family meetings about it. I was up in arms about it and defending my brother the whole time. They made him so uncomfortable and it was such a sh*tshow. The girl ended up breaking up with him for it.
