When she got so drunk I had to babysit her to make sure she wouldn’t hurt herself, including pulling her back from leaning too far over our 3rd floor balcony railing, admonishing her for doing a somersault into our TV stand, or clenching her fists so tight her nails would make her palms bleed.

When my friends found me apologizing for talking to another man. I was quickly informed that it wasn’t okay.

With my ex it was one night we went out and she got drunk then started cursing me out loudly in public for basically not drinking as much as she did calling me pussy among other things. When I tried to calm her down she proceeded to hit me with an umbrella so yeah.

The realization was painful and gradual, mostly owing to his inability to have reasonable discussions, refusal to respect my perspective, and nonstop grudge-holding, but the last straw for me was when he broke one of my possessions (thankfully something small/cheap) in a fit of rage. I knew I couldn’t spend the rest of my life with someone like that. Left soon after.
