21 Rich People Confess The Best And Worst Things About Being Wealthy

I guess by all accounts I am wealthy, although that life is kind of in the past. I recently switched my careers from being a CFO (kind of) at a small company to being a high school teacher. My salary is like 20% of what I used to make, but I now actually have time to enjoy money. Being a teacher is time consuming, but it’s far less stressful and even still I have way more free time. At my previous job, 60 hour weeks were the usual, a bad week, while rare, I might see a 70-80 work week. I literally had no life outside of work; so I guess what I would say is that having money is great, but you also have to have time to enjoy it.

Best part: Not having to worry about anything. Worst part: Not having to worry about anything. More info: I am from an old money family with parents who raised me to be as normal and middle class as possible. I had no idea that we were rich until around High School. For instance, I just thought that everyone in my public school went for a vacation every month to different resorts. I mean it’s nice and all, but when you’re depressed, there’s really no motivation to do anything. I have no hopes, no dream, no desires. I’m just tired all the time.

My parents are moderately wealthy, probably in the top 5-7% (I say moderate here because it really gets exponential in the last 2 or 3), and while it was nice to be able to throw money at issues, I wish that hadn’t been my family’s default for everything. There are some things it just doesn’t fix.

My parents really struggled for the majority of my life. We could never really afford anything over $100 until about 4 years ago, and seeing my parents succeed after so much trouble is probably the best part about it. My father just bought a new Porsche Panamera and my mom just got a New lexus Gx 470. Seeing them drive cars like this after such hardship is amazing.
