21 Sob Stories that Were Actually Fake

I was walking home one night, when a guy stops me on the street holding a gas container. He tells me that his car ran out of gas a few blocks away and he was trying to get to his sister’s house to pick her up because her boyfriend was out drinking all night and he gets abusive when he’s drunk. He wanted to rush over and pick her up before he got home so that nothing would happen to her and the cops wouldn’t have to be called. In his rush he forgot his wallet, so he had no money to pay for gas and he was begging to see if I could help him out with a few dollars. This guy didn’t look homeless and he appeared genuinely concerned. Plus the gas can led me to believe that he was telling the truth so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him $5. He thanked me and as I walked away I saw him heading towards the gas station. A few days later, I’m walking home again after work and I see the same guy, with the gas can in his hand, talking to some other person across the street.

Crazy girl back in highschool turned out to be a compulsive liar. Kept telling people that her father sexually abused her, had an abortion every month, and claimed that her ex raped her (no charges pressed, thank god).

On black friday, one of my former employees was just throwing t-shirts in a pile on the ground instead of folding them one at a time. When I told her she needed to do it right, she said something snide and pretended to start fixing it. When I came back later, she had just made the pile bigger. I got pissed, because we were incredibly busy and she was wasting time, so I started to write her up. She started crying and said she was having a hard time focusing because her mother was in the ICU at the hospital. I felt sh*tty and let her leave. A few hours later, her brother called the store looking for her, and when I said I had heard their mother was in the ICU, he said “What? Of course she’s in the ICU, she works there. I just talked to her, she’s fine.” Called her and told her she needed to come back and finish her shift or she would be fired for insubordination, and it felt really nice when I wrote that b*tch up.

An older guy comes up to me and my friends saying his wife needs a tampon she’s bleeding down there, and they need to buy them. He’s really sorry but it’s kind of an emergency. He gestures over to this women his age just kinda standing off in the distance looking embarrassed. We give him a couple bucks and he thanks us and that’s it. We see him a few hours later a couple blocks down and he comes to us and tries to sell us the same story, completely forgetting that we gave him money hours before.
