23 Spa Experiences Gone Horribly Wrong

When I was thirteen I went to get a haircut at a local salon and the man cutting my hair spent the ENTIRE time telling me how dreadful my eyebrows were and how I should let him wax them, or at least pluck them, because wow they were just terrible and how could I even live like that? Needless to say my fragile adolescent ego was shattered for a long time over that one. I didn’t let him wax my brows. Mostly because I was crying by the time I left.

I have friend who went for a bikini wax. The beautician was completely new at this, and let the wax cool before attempting to strip it off. In the end they had to cut the strips, and my poor friend apparently ended up with huge purple bruises all around her nether regions for weeks. Needless to say she massively complained and never, ever went back.

I asked for light brown highlights through the bottom of my hair, my regular stylist dyed the whole bottom of my hair this horrible burgundy/purple color. Someone had left that color in the slot where the light brown was supposed to go and he didn’t check the bottle.

I was visiting D.C. to see my bestie and we made an appointment for mani/pedis at a salon near her dorm that she’d heard good things about. We got there and they gave up cappuccinos (crucial story point) and then the lady doing our nails used some weird steel bucket for the hot water for the pedis and she cut my friend’s foot while she was working on her pedi. Later we both ended up with raging poop issues from the cappuccinos.

A girl I know got MRSA (staph infection) when she went in for a pedi and they cut her foot. She almost died.
