23 Spa Experiences Gone Horribly Wrong

My husband bought me a mani/pedi voucher when I was eight months pregnant. They cut my cuticles and left four fingers bleeding. They filed my nails down below the tips of my fingers and painted the fingertips red on the off chance I wouldn’t notice. They pumiced the tops of my feet till they bled but left the callouses on the soles alone. They took my gift voucher and then tried to charge me extra. Leaving the salon, I went to grab my phone. It wasn’t in my bag. I went back to get it, they said it wasn’t there. I insisted on calling it from their desk phone and we followed the ringing … to my pedi lady’s handbag. Not even an apology.

I went to get my eyebrows waxed on my birthday years ago. She let the wax sit on my face too long and ripped off the first few layers of skin. She gave me soy and duck sauce packets that she kept in the fridge to hold on my brows so they wouldn’t swell too badly.

I had long jet black hair at the time and wanted to do the asymmetrical Victoria Beckam bob in a light blond. I was well aware that this was not likely but I wanted to go as light as possible. So I got a bit too excited and went to the first hairstylist that a friend recommended. Told her what I wanted she assured me that it was possible etc. She ended up bleaching my hair, didn’t use toner or dye afterwards. I had accidental ombre with orange hair!

When I was younger I had a pixie cut, which I loved, but I wanted long hair again. So I grew my hair out for three years until finally it almost reached my waist. I usually go to a student salon but I thought, meh, why not treat myself? So I went to this professional place and told the man who was cutting my hair that I just wanted a layer and a bang trim, DO NOT TOUCH THE LENGTH. He said he could totally do this. Left the salon paying in full and my hair barely passing my shoulders…still growing it out.
