When I was young I watched a TV show about poor people living in sewers and prostitutes. I got the wrong end of the stick and finished the show thinking that there were these people called ‘pimps’ who lived in the sewers and were always very thirsty. To ‘help the pimps’ whenever my parents would go out I would turn the taps on and leave them running for about ten minutes to get as much water to the pimps as possible. I kept doing this till I was found out at age ten.

I asked my dad what the rumble strips on the sides of roads were for and he told me that it was so blind people would know when they were driving off the road. It made so much sense to me at the time.

When I saw Space Jam in theaters, way back in the day, I remember watching the first scene with young Michael Jordan playing ball with his dad and thinking to myself, “How did they know he was going to be famous someday??” I thought they had actually filmed it when Michael was a kid. I was a clever one.

My older sister tried to explain periods to me when I was younger. She explained the vaginal bleeding. She said it would start when I was twelve or thirteen. When I asked when it stopped, she said it would stop when I was about fifty years old. She mentioned no pause in between. I thought you bled nonstop for 37 years until I got to health class in junior high.
