There are two stories as to how this place became haunted – but honestly, one would be enough.

On the one hand, people attribute it to the animal sacrifice and mutilation that went on just outside the graveyard. Others blame grave robbers who dug up bones and destroyed headstones.

Or just, you know, all those dead people in one place.

 

11. Villisca Ax Murder House

In the early ‘90s, a family of 6 plus two overnight guests were killed by an ax murderer. Some people report seeing a man with an ax, hearing children crying and unexplained paranormal activity.
