This can be from child abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, returning from war, and many other traumatic experiences. Obviously there is a genetic factor in many cases too. These are sad people who have unfortunately turned to a detrimental coping mechanism. They lose control, engage in anti-social behavior to feed the addiction, and are often scorned by society. This has made me absolutely furious with the legislation in this country.

Gender roles haven’t changed very much over my 35 years of practice. More women hate their husbands than you can imagine. Father’s just need to show up to be seen as great dads. Dealing with conflict well is the key to long term relationships.
