Woman Tweets That Men Don’t Have Furniture And RIP Her Mentions

In a tweet that’s gone massively viral, 21-year-old Kathryn Hasty included a picture of a nearly bare apartment, with just a chair and a TV, and wrote, “guys really live in apartments like this and don’t see any issue.”

Hasty spoke to BuzzFeed News about the origins of her tweet, and about the replies that she’s gotten to it. Well, the replies that she’s read, because when she saw the tweet was getting a ton of backlash, Hasty stopped reading the responses after the first hour.


It turns out that the apartment in the picture belongs to a close dude friend of Hasty. Hasty told BuzzFeed that she didn’t mean for the tweet to sound negative, she just thought it was funny. She explained, “I think that people get so offended when they should really be able to laugh at themselves.” She added, “Parker […] is one of my closest friends and I do not mind one bit hanging out on his living room floor, my brothers are the exact same way.”

When asked why she thought some men were that way, she said, “I think guys just genuinely don’t care, and furniture is expensive.” She continued, “Especially young guys, if you have no one to impress or you don’t have a bunch of gatherings then I can definitely understand why you wouldn’t want to go out of your way to furnish a full house. Even some girls are that way.”

People need to lighten up because it’s just a joke. Look, some dudes have very little furniture, as evidenced by the replies to the tweet. A lot of men found that they could relate, and responded by sending pictures of their own places.
