25 Travelers Share their Strangest Encounters Overseas

I met a girl in Tokyo off of Tinder, and we meet up, walk around, and I practice my Japanese with her, and slightly succeed in small talk as we get dinner and drinks. She makes it clear that she wants to have sex, so she takes me to a love hotel, which is a hotel specifically designed for having sex in. That was the first weird part. We start doing the deed and she starts making these noises like a puppy on helium. I realize it’s the high pitched moans you can sometimes hear in Japanese porn.

An ex of mine was in Rome, and someone ran at her while jacking it in broad daylight. She went into a building to get away.

A Chinese man asked to measure my feet and wanted to lie down while I walked barefoot up his body and end up with both feet on his face. That is, my full weight, standing on his face. I politely declined and ran away, and still to this day I’m not 100% sure it was a sexual thing, but the way he talked about it, I’m pretty sure he saw it as a sexual thing…

My father, after recently learning Spanish, was introduced to the congregation of a small South American church by the Pastor. The Pastor asked my father to stand, introduce himself and the family, and to say a few words. My father stood, and tried to began his remarks with “Hello, I’m very embarrassed because of what the pastor has said.” But instead said “Hello, I’m very embarazada because of the pastor.” Embarazada means pregnant. The congregation was understandably confused and horrified.

After a 22 hour flight, I ordered a massage in a 5-star Chinese hotel thinking that surely it would be legit. Seriously, I didn’t want to deal with the rub-and-tug roulette I’d heard Chinese massage parlors could be. Masseuse asks if I want “businessman massage”…I think, yea, sure, I’m a businessman. Long story short: I end up with a happy ending predicated by her finger in my a**.
